Testimonial from Gavin King - Ridgeway Health and Wellness Centre

Gavin King from the Ridgeway Health and Wellness Dentistry, Wroughton, Swindon gave us his experience of working with the TAB Dental team

What can I say?

I'd been asked to build a dental practice from scratch. Fun to spend other people's money? Not so much when you the realisation dawned that you were responsible for the those things that caused day-to-day problems. Problems that in the end were going to be your fault. You spent how much on that?! Best thing to do? Deflect. Mrs King is a dentist and a technophobe. Ask her. 'TAB', she said without hesitation. Why? 'Cos I'm a technophobe who learnt to operate it within a week and I never hear anyone moaning about it. Oh, and if there is a problem, they fix it'. Hmmm. Go up the road and ask friendly practice manager. 'Wish we had TAB', was her response. 2 out of 2. So they get the nod. Yes, yes, there were problems but that had to do with installation dates crossing over each other and lots of dust flying around and people unable to manage diaries (well that would be if I had one).

Anyway, long story short, 5 months down the line we are ready for opening. I've recruited the best dental nurse and receptionist I know. Receptionist says that if she can handle the systems before she should learn this well enough. 2 days later her reply is 'Doddle'. (A strange Swindonian phrase which I am reliably informed means 'I really thought this might be more difficult than it has actually turned out to be'. Or something like that).

"One major concern before opening day. Mrs King tells me that she has never used the system in her surgery."

One major concern before opening day. Mrs King tells me that she has never used the system in her surgery. Fine time to tell me Louise methinks. Did she think Trish the nurse would cope. Cope? She makes me look like Bill Gates says my informer. Oh hell, not even turning computers on let alone charting. Yet. Yet. Despite blind panic pleas for a paper system 'while we adjust' (on ya bike!) a hastily purchased laptop 2 weeks before zero hour and a downloaded free version of TAB off the web (plus, it has to be said, a lot of hard work) Trish takes to it like, well, not so much a duck, but definitely something of an amphibuous nature.

Result? 9 weeks down the road the TAB boys have done us proud. Good on ya TAB boys. 5 stars. (Proof of this review can be purchased by credit card on 01793 798236. Thank you).
